Tomorrow's Teacher

The Tomorrow's
Teacher Scholarship Program is pleased to honor the memory
of Barbara C. Blatz through the creation of the Tomorrow's
Teacher Barbara C. Blatz Award. Barb Blatz worked for many
years with R. Lee Harris, who with his wife Barbara Harris,
founded the Tomorrow's Teacher Scholarship Program. Mrs. Blatz
was stricken with brain cancer and passed away on March 19,
2003. She and her husband John were dedicated to promoting
educational initiatives in the communities where they lived
including Kansas City, Topeka and Colorado Springs. The Blatz
Award will serve as a legacy for Mrs. Blatz to promote the
education of Kansans who wish to become teachers and ultimately
the education of scores of young people taught by these teachers.

| Three
annual Blatz Award recipients will each receive a one-time stipend
of $500 to be used for tuition or books. Recipients will be selected
from qualified applicants for the Tomorrow's Teacher Scholarship
Program who are not chosen for the scholarship. The staffs of
the KSU Foundation and the College of Education will make the
selections on a discretionary basis. Students who apply and are
qualified but not selected for the Tomorrow's Teacher Scholarship
will automatically be considered for the Blatz Award. |
